Preparation time: in total approx. 10 minutes
Ingredients:
8 slices of white bread
4 slices of cheddar
75 g Pecorino Romano (grated)
75 g Mozzarella (grated)
2 onions
100 ml red wine
1 tbsp brown sugar
Preparation:
Peel the onions and cut them into rings. Then sauté in the pan until translucent. Add the sugar and let it caramelise while stirring constantly. Next, deglaze with red wine and simmer gently until the red wine has boiled away.
Butter one side of the white bread completely. Cover the bread with cheddar, pecorino and mozzarella cheese and the caramelized onions and fold the bread over. The buttered side should remain on the outside.
Toast the sandwich in a contact grill until golden brown. Alternatively, fry the grilled cheese sandwich in a pan over medium heat (about 5 minutes on each side).
