Prepare the preserving jars: Boil the jars and lids and rinse with hot water.
Wash, peel and halve the pears, remove the core and place in a bowl of lightly salted water.
Mix 1 l of water with the preserving sugar and bring to the boil in a saucepan. Drain the pears, layer them in prepared jars and place a piece of the cinnamon stick in each jar. Allow the sugar solution to cool slightly and fill the pear jars with it to 2 cm below the rim and seal.
Note: The rims of the jars must be clean and dry when sealing.
Place the jars in the preserving machine and fill with water until three quarters of the jars are covered. Then cook with the lid closed at 100 °C for about 30 minutes.
