Undressed doughnuts

It's carnival time and you'll find doughnuts again in every bakery. This festive pastry is not only a tradition, but also very tasty. Here we explain how you can make a doughnut yourself:

Preparation

Step 1

For the dough, heat milk with butter in pieces in a saucepan. Mix the flour, sugar and salt in a bowl. Crumble the yeast over it. Add the lukewarm milk mixture. Also add the egg and egg yolk and knead the ingredients for 5 minutes with the dough hooks of the hand mixer until a smooth dough forms. Cover and leave to rest for 45 minutes.

Step 2

Shape the dough into 10 balls on a lightly floured work surface and flatten. Carefully pull each piece of dough apart with your fingers to make pizza-like patties (Ø approx. 10 cm).

Step 3

Inside the pancake, the dough should be stretched very thin, the edge may still remain thick. This creates the typical "window" during baking, through which you can almost see through. Place the stretched out patties on a piece of baking paper. Cover and leave to rest for another 15 minutes.

Step 4

Place the dough pieces one after the other in the fat of the deep fryer. Fry slowly on both sides over medium heat for 2 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the fat, allow to drain slightly and place on a piece of kitchen paper.

Step 5

Dust cooled undressed with icing sugar to taste and serve directly.
