Cheese meets pasta - a real soul food experience
The combination of tender macaroni and a velvety, melted cheese sauce makes mac & cheese a dish that will delight generations. And best of all, it's quick to make and only requires a few ingredients.
Fancy a touch of America? Then let's get to the cheese pots - mac & cheese is pure creamy indulgence!
First cook the macaroni in salted water until al dente according to the packet instructions and then drain.
While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a pan, stir in the flour and sauté briefly. Stir constantly so that no lumps form. Gradually add the milk and continue stirring until you have a smooth sauce.
Now stir in the mustard, paprika powder, salt and pepper. Then gradually fold in the grated Cheddar and Parmesan until the cheese has completely dissolved and a creamy cheese sauce is formed.
Add the cooked macaroni directly to the sauce and mix well so that each noodle is coated with the delicious cheese cream.
If you would like to refine the dish, you can pour the mixture into a baking dish, sprinkle with breadcrumbs and add a few flakes of butter. Then bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (top/bottom heat) for about 10 minutes until a golden brown crust forms.
To finish, simply arrange on plates and enjoy!
