Deep fried shish kebab

At festivals and fairs, it can confidently be counted among the top 3 dishes. We are talking about shashlik. And various variations have developed in households all over the country. That's why we thought: why not fire up our deep fryer and try the Shish kebabs in it? To prepare them afterwards together with fine French fries and a delicious shashlik sauce? Just try it out!

Preparation

Step 1

Preparation shashlik sauce

  1. Put some sunflower oil in a pot and sauté the chopped onions until translucent.
  2. Add the finely chopped garlic and sauté as well.
Step 2
  1. Then stir in the tomato paste and fry a little.
  2. Now stir in the spices, as well as the honey, mustard and vinegar.
Step 3
  1. Pour in the meat stock and stir in the chunky tomatoes as well.
  2. Simmer the shish kebab sauce for about 20 minutes with the lid slightly open.

  1. Finally, season with salt and pepper.
  2. Serve with fresh, finely chopped parsley.

Preparation of shashlik skewers:

  1. Cut the pork neck into 3 by 3 centimetre slices / cubes.
  2. Do the same with the pepper, onion and bacon.

  1. Place one after the other and alternately on the skewer.
Step 7
  1. Heat the fat in the deep fryer to 170 degrees.
  2. Deep-fry the skewers for about 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 500 g pork neck or pork loin in one piece
  • 3 half peppers (red, green and yellow)
  • 2 onions
  • 200 g bacon
  • Ingredients shashlik sauce:
  • 1 onion
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp medium hot mustard
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 heaped tablespoon curry powder
  • 3 tsp paprika powder (sweet)
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 0.5 tsp ginger
  • 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 0.5 tsp thyme
  • 0.5 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 100 ml red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar
  • 1 large tablespoon honey
  • 0.4 kg chunky tomatoes (tin)
  • 500 ml meat stock (alternatively vegetable stock)
